Gemini United Creation: Merrick Garland's Department of Justice refuses to bring election finance charges against SBF
Gemini co-founder Cameron Winklevoss posted on the X platform that Merrick Garland's Department of Justice refused to bring election finance charges against SBF because these charges were not included in his extradition. In other words, this technically violated the treaty between the United States and the Bahamian government, as the US only agreed to extradite SBF on non-election related charges. Garland's Department of Justice did not cooperate with the Bahamian government to fill out necessary paperwork and overcome this technical issue (which may have been intentionally created by DOJ), so as to charge SBF with election interference. Instead, they surrendered and dropped the charges. When did paperwork become a barrier between prosecutors and adding more charges? Especially when it involves using $100 million in stolen customer funds for election interference. The party always laments that democracy is under threat, which is completely hypocritical. When there was an opportunity to truly defend democracy, they declined. This speaks volumes.
