Trump: Bitcoin miners can help stabilize energy supply to the power grid
Matthew Schultz, the executive chairman of Bitcoin mining company CleanSpark Inc., said that several Bitcoin miners met with former President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday night. Schultz said that Trump told attendees that he loves and understands cryptocurrency and added that Bitcoin miners help stabilize energy supply to the power grid. Trump said he would speak up for miners in the White House.
The meeting comes as crypto miners face strong opposition due to a range of issues, including climate change and its impact on the local power grid. Democrats have been leading efforts to strengthen scrutiny of the energy consumption and carbon emissions of Bitcoin miners, while Texas Senator Ted Cruz has been a vocal supporter of the industry.
