Citi: The Federal Reserve will cut interest rates continuously starting from September, with a cumulative cut of 200 basis points
Analysts at Citi Research predict that the Federal Reserve will begin to aggressively cut interest rates in the coming months and continue until next summer. In a statement released last Friday, the bank cited new signs of economic slowdown and predicted that the Fed will cut rates by 25 basis points at each meeting starting in September, for a total of eight cuts until July 2025. This will lower the benchmark interest rate by 200 basis points, from the current 5.25%-5.5% to 3.25%-3.5%, and remain unchanged for the remainder of 2025.
