Tesla shareholder lawyers seek over $7 billion in legal fees in company stock
On Monday, a judge in Delaware heard arguments from lawyers regarding Tesla CEO Elon Musk's request for a huge compensation package. The lawyers argued that Musk's compensation is illegal and should be invalidated. A Tesla shareholder questioned Musk's 2018 compensation plan, and their lawyer requested that Judge Kathaleen Saint Jude McCormick order legal fees to be paid in the form of Tesla stock, valued at over $7 billion based on current trading prices. Musk's 2018 compensation plan, which was overturned by the judge, could have been worth over $55 billion. After a full day of expert testimony and lawyer arguments, McCormick did not indicate when she will make a ruling on the fee request. (Fortune)
