On November 21, Galaxy Research analyzed the growth of the Bitcoin L2 ecosystem in 2024 in its latest report. It pointed out that so far, venture capital in the Bitcoin L2 field has reached $447 million, with 39% of investments occurring in the first three quarters of 2024. From January to September 2024, Bitcoin L2 projects received $174 million in financing. Of this amount, $105 million went to sidechain projects and $63 million went to rollups projects.
Galaxy estimates that by 2030 approximately $47 billion worth of bitcoin liquidity could be integrated into the Bitcoin L2 network. The institution believes that before 2024 traditional crypto venture capital firms (excluding funds focused on bitcoin) had less involvement with the bitcoin ecosystem. As the ecosystem matures, crypto venture capital companies will continue deploying funds towards Bitcoin L2 projects.
