The Ministry of Public Security supervised the cracking of a "major hacker case" involving virtual currency. Five people stole 200 million pieces of
the Public Security Bureau of Neijiang City, Sichuan Province, held a press conference to announce that the Neijiang police recently cracked a case of illegally obtaining computer system data under the supervision of the Ministry of Public Security and arrested five people. It is reported that the gang are high-end "hackers" engaged in network technology, one of whom is also a staff member of a large network security company. They obtained citizens' personal information by writing hacker programs to exceed their authority, and finally sold citizens' personal information on overseas websites through virtual currencies, with a highest selling price of 5 yuan per piece. According to police investigations, the case involved 57 government and enterprise websites, and the gang stole 208 million pieces of citizens' personal information, such as flight trajectories, diplomas, and addresses, with illegal profits reaching more than 6.4 million yuan. Currently, the case has been transferred for prosecution, and the case is under trial.
