"Fed's Mouthpiece": The Federal Reserve enters a wait-and-see phase, satisfied with its stance on interest rates
"Federal Reserve mouthpiece" Nick Timiraos stated that the Federal Reserve has hit the pause button on rate cuts, entering a new phase of watchfulness as it tries to decide whether and by how much to lower interest rates from their recent 20-year high. Before deciding to keep rates steady on Wednesday, the Fed had cut rates three times in a row since September, when they were around 5.3%. Officials made only minor changes to their policy statement at the end of a two-day meeting. The statement indicated that under economic conditions where inflation is still slightly above target and labor market conditions are stable, they are satisfied with their stance on interest rates.
