Alabama, Minnesota lawmakers push for Bitcoin reserves
legislators in Minnesota and Alabama have introduced companion bills to existing legislation that would allow the states to purchase bitcoin. On April 1, Minnesota Republican Representative Bernie Perriman introduced the "Minnesota Bitcoin Bill" (HF 2946) to the state House of Representatives, following a similar bill proposed by Republican State Senator Jeremy Miller on March 17. Meanwhile, in Alabama on the same day, Republican Senator Will Barfoot introduced Senate Bill 283, while a bipartisan group of House members led by Republican Mike Shaw introduced House Bill 482, which would allow the state to invest in cryptocurrency but essentially limit it to bitcoin.
