The Argentine Congress will officially investigate the relationship between the country's government officials and Libra
According to Bitcoin.com, the Argentine lower house of Congress has approved the establishment of a special committee to investigate the role played by senior government officials in the issuance and collapse of the La Libertad Avanza project (i.e., Libra token). The committee is composed of 24 members who will review testimonies from all parties to confirm whether President Javier Milei, his sister Karina Milei, and other government officials were involved in the issuance and subsequent collapse of this token. The committee will begin its investigation on April 23rd and must submit an investigative report within three months, clarifying responsibilities.
Milei first announced plans for the Libra token back in February, claiming it would be used to support small and medium-sized enterprises in Argentina. However, just hours after its release, its price plummeted causing tens of thousands of investors to suffer losses. This congressional investigation is one among several inquiries launched domestically and internationally into events surrounding the Libra token; other investigating bodies include Argentine courts and U.S Department of Justice - all are committed to uncovering truth behind these events.
