SEC Chair Atkins to Speak at Next Crypto Custody Roundtable
The new Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman, Paul S. Atkins, will address the Crypto Task Force Roundtable sponsored by the SEC on April 25, 2025, in Washington, D.C.
The conference , “Know Your Custodian: Key Considerations for Crypto Custody,” will take place from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM ET and will be open to in-person and virtual attendees.

Atkins, sworn in on April 21 as SEC Chairman , served as an SEC commissioner between 2002 and 2008. Atkins is recognized as one who campaigned for lower regulatory hurdles and stimulating financial innovation, especially in digital assets.
He will make opening remarks with SEC Commissioners Caroline Crenshaw, Mark Uyeda, and Hester Peirce. The roundtable will analyze how broker-dealers and investment companies custody cryptocurrencies. Two central sessions will consider digital asset custody’s technical, legal, and regulatory dimensions.
Panelists include professionals from Fireblocks, Fidelity, Kraken, Anchorage, BitGo, and Exodus, along with legal professionals and scholars from Simpson Thacher, Georgetown University, and the University of Pennsylvania.
It is a part of the SEC’s “Spring Sprint Toward Crypto Clarity” and seeks to hear comments from industry leaders, legal professionals, and regulators in order to inform future crypto regulations.
