WSJ: Google pledges to invest up to $2 billion in AI company Anthropic
According to informed sources, Google has committed to investing up to $2 billion in artificial intelligence company Anthropic. Google has already invested $500 million in Anthropic in advance and agreed to gradually add $1.5 billion in investment in the future. (The Wall Street Journal) Earlier, Alameda/FTX invested about $500 million in Anthropic. In February of this year, Google invested $300 million in Anthropic. In May of this year, Anthropic announced the completion of a $450 million Series C financing round, led by Spark Capital, with participation from Google, Salesforce VC, Sound Ventures, Zoom Ventures, and others. In August, Anthropic announced an additional $100 million investment from SK Telecom, a Korean telecommunications giant. In September, Anthropic announced that Amazon will invest up to $4 billion in the company.
